COOKEVILLE ELECTRICITY FACT SHEET

Utilities
Utilities in Putnam County are tailored to meet industries' needs. Excellent service coupled with various rate schedules and incentive programs allow our utilities to provide any business or industry with quality service at low cost. Each department is ready to work with new businesses and industries to assure that all their needs are met at a reasonable price.

The City of Cookeville owns and operates the four utilities serving the city. Customers benefit from the economy and convenience of having all of their utilities provided by one company. For added ease, all utility offices are located in the city's municipal building.

Cookeville's electric, natural gas, water, and sewer departments report to the city manager, the city's chief executive officer. Utility policies and rates are established by the city council.

Future expansion plans in several areas will assure that the utilities can meet the needs of our community as it continues to grow and prosper. There is a large reserve margin for electric service and available water supply to meet increased demand.

Administrative and technical staffs are available in all areas to assist commercial and industrial customers with utility-site information, rate calculation, technical assistance, and engineering expertise.

Highlights of Utility Services include:
Competitive rates
Incentive programs for customers based on load requirements and employment levels
Free technical assistance
Reliable service
Convenience of four utilities in one municipal building
Centralized customer service, billing, and dispatch
Transformer inventory for commercial and industrial customers

ELECTRICITY
The Cookeville Electric Department buys all of its power from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). The City receives power from TVA at three 69 to 13 kv transformer stations and one 161 to 69 kv transformer station. Maximum capacity of each station exceeds 50 megawatts with a total system capacity of over 150 megawatts.

Two electric cooperatives, Upper Cumberland Electric and Volunteer Energy, provide electricity to Algood, Baxter, Monterey and Putnam County.

Enhanced Growth Credit Program
This program is an incentive program for industrial growth offered for SIC code qualified electric customers with demands exceeding 100 kilowatts and non-SIC qualified all-electric customers with demands exceeding 250 kilowatts. A $6 per kW demand credit is applied for 4 years providing the above criteria is met. The program is also available for customer expansions.
