Water
The Cookeville Water and Sewer Department has about 12,000 metered customers on its water system. Our community is fortunate to have an abundant supply of water from Center Hill Lake. The system has a pumping capacity of 15 million gallons per day. The current consumption level is around 10 million gallons per day.

A several-step process is used to treat the water, including flash mix, flocculation, clarification, filtration, and chlorination. This modern water treatment plant also has a capacity of cleaning 15 million gallons per day. Five water tanks allow the city to store over 10 million gallons of water to meet system demand and fire flow requirements.
